CCM 604e Supermoto |

What's a CCM 604e Supermoto? Well, it's a Supermotard. So what's a Supermotard you ask? I suppose one could say that a Supermotard can be pretty much whatever its creator wants it to be. For example, folks have created Supermotards out of everything from dedicated two-stroke motocrossers, to four-stroke enduro machines and pretty much everything in between. What you end up with is basically a dirtbike with sticky street or roadrace tires and appropriate brakes. Wee! The funky machines are street ridden and also raced mostly in European countries as well as in the SuperTT series promoted by Don Canet here in the States. Check the links down below to get a taste of what's happening around the globe. Mine is purpose built by a tiny company named CCM. They're based in Blackburn in the United Kingdom. It's powered by a 598cc Rotax motor, has Paoli forks, WP shock and Brembo brakes... This particular CCM was imported by a fellow Ducati Mail Lister who owned it for a year and 580 miles. These are the pics he sent me just before I adopted it. I'll get around to taking some fresh ones soon. (Speaking of which, a public thanks to Bobby Hopp for the fair deal and the easy transaction.) The carburetion was in need of a good dialing in so I picked up some different jets from American Dirt Bike and things improved nicely, but there's still a ways to go in that department. Also, the engine's pretty detuned as delivered, so there's much to be gained using well known tweaks. If I can ever get around to that. So how's it to ride? Pretty much as one would expect of a big dirtbike with sticky street rubber and big brakes. In other words - Fun! Will I ever be able to ride a Supermotard like Chambon or Bostrom? No chance in hell! On the bright side, just putting it around town is entertaining. Try one sometime if ya get the chance... :-) |
